Senna is mainly used for constipation caused by travel or dietary changes, as well as after childbirth or various surgical procedures. However, we should bear in mind that this plant acts on the hollow organs of the abdominal cavity, which are covered in muscle fibres. It must therefore not be used during pregnancy or menstruation, or in cases of inflammation of the large intestine or bladder. For anal or rectal problems, it must only be taken in small doses.
