gabbro *** is a mafic, coarse-grained igneous rock, the plutonic equivalent of basalt . . . it makes up large volumes of rock, mainly in the Earth’s oceanic crust, and forms through basaltic magmatism at mid-ocean ridges . . amazing, isn’t it – just try to imagine it 🥹 Gabbro is close to diorite, while diorite is sort of the opposite of the rocks contained in Gabbro_ which makes diorite paler *** the mineral content is different too, of course;
Name: gabbro comes from a locality in Tuscany where it was quarried, and literally means smooth or bare.
